Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the right local contractor gets your request
- What the water is doing: pooling, running toward the house, or getting under it
- Whether you've seen a sinkhole or depression on the property
- Photos or video taken during a rain, if you have them
- Whether you're in an HOA or have a drainage easement on your plat
Ground opening up or a new hole in the yard? Keep people, pets and vehicles away from it, don't fill it or point water at it, and get a geotechnical professional or engineer to look before anyone digs.
